A horse racing wagering platform had solid CRM infrastructure and customer-informed messaging, but the copy wasn't optimized for conversion. Welcome emails covered the basics but didn't educate users on platform features (surveys showed many had never heard of key offerings). There was no abandoned cart recovery. Retention campaigns had strong targeting but needed conversion-focused copy.

I optimized messaging across the customer lifecycle: redesigned the welcome series to educate new users and help promo code sign-ups unlock their full bonus, built an abandoned cart series from scratch, and refreshed retention/reactivation copy to drive clearer calls to action while maintaining authentic customer voice.

The results: 101% year-over-year increase in incremental customer wagering (Year 2), followed by 26% sustained growth (Year 3), measured against control groups.
